Featured Project

Created as part of our mission to elevate cannabis culture, The Farm & The Feminine is a fine art photography collaboration designed to chronicle the legacy, creativity and determination of the female farmers who tend the Cannabis gardens of California’s iconic Emerald Triangle. With this stunning visual tribute, the value and vital nature of these outdoor regenerative gardens and the women who are their caretakers are showcased in a way never seen before.

Photographer: Dorit Thies

Featured in multiple magazines such as Marin Living, Cannabis Now, and Outpost, the body of work is an artful assemblage of landscapes, rare cannabis strains and the Ladies who tend these gardens. Photographed by celebrated fashion and lifestyle photographer Dorit Thies, the images are enhanced with animals, plants, flowers and found objects from the farm, each imbued with natural light to create a new benchmark in photographic fine art that transcends previous representations of the People, Places and Plant that are the foundation of this community.

“Evocative images of women cannabis farmers that speak volumes”

That’s how Cannabis Now magazine described our project in a recent article. It’s also the type of response we get from people at live events when the portraits are displayed.

Now it’s time to share these inspiring images with a broader audience. Partnering with one of the premiere fine art printing studios in Los Angeles, we’ve created a Limited Edition series (a total of Seven for each Portrait) available for purchase. Whether for home, office or live events, the Farm & The Feminine Portrait series is a stunning visual tribute to Women Cultivators of the Emerald Triangle and the entire Legacy Community. If you’re interested in acquiring a portrait, join us on the Journey and contact Eric Hiss-Lloreda at eric@erichiss.com

“The Farm & ThE feminine” live

After being displayed in multiple dispensaries in Southern California, the Portraits will next be on view Friday, September 20 and Saturday, September 21, 2024 at one the cannabis world’s most iconic trade shows—The Hall of Flowers Expo at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. Take note: this year for the first time ever, the show will be open to consumers! You’ll find us in the Hall of Flowers building, where all four portraits will be on display. We’ll be joined by cultivator Joseph Haggard of multi-award-winning Emerald Spirit Botanicals. (His mother, legendary cannabis cultivator and breeder Katie Jeane, is featured as one of our iconic portraits). Hear directly from Joseph about life on a cannabis farm in “The Triangle” and learn what it takes to produce top-shelf, sungrown craft cannabis using regenerative practices. It’s gonna be Lit!

Previous Live Events

We were honored to participate in the Humboldt Grace Foundation's Fire Recovery Project, an auction held in 2021 to raise funds to help rural communities in the Emerald Triangle rebuild after wildfires. We donated the image above (“Katie Jeane,” 1 in a series of 7) to assist in the effort. We’re glad we could play a small part in supporting a community close to our hearts.

Next up, we were flat-out stoked to take part in the 2021 Edition of the Emerald Cup Harvest Ball, debuting the portraits of the Four Lady cultivators from the NorCal region. It was a great opportunity to educate and celebrate their craft and commitment. We followed that up with another invitation to present the Four Ladies once again at the history-making Emerald Cup Awards, which for the first time ever, took place in the heart of Hollywood at the historic Ricardo Montalban Theatre in May, 2022.
